We create nesting sites for honeybees in and around Frankfurt, Germany. To this end we produce ‘Zeidler style’ log hives and install these in suitable trees. Once occupied, we monitor the bees unobtrusively all year round. We hope to raise people’s awareness that the honeybee is a wild creature whose natural habitat is a tree, and that the wild-living honeybee is worthy of protection. We hope to contribute to preserving this vital species and engage in various educational projects to inspire interest in the wild living honeybee that contributes so immensely to all our lives. We focus on installing bee-appropriate nesting sites in public settings in the hope to inspire people to re-consider their relationship to the honeybee as a tree-dwelling insect of supreme ecological and social significance.
