This cavity has been home to at least 2 colonies of bees in the last 3 years. They did not survive the winter of 2020, however the previous were there for more than 2 years. The entrance is very large, and has probably made it difficult to maintain heat as it is at the top end of the cavity. No swarm moved in this year. The tree has been cut so that the remaining trunk is about 8 feet tall. Fotos show empty cavity in winter.
