Apian Ecologies of Selves and Rehabilitation of Apian Birthrights

Apis Arborea promotes programs that embrace mutually beneficial relationships within a diverse network of pollinator species and focuses on the wild species and not on managed honeybees. We integrate principles of environmental ethics and follow multi-species synergies that maintain ecological flow and promote a further unfolding and developing of natural ecological processes.

We promote the rewilding and rehabilitation of wild honeybees and create programs that can open a radical new perspective for creating an innovative and holistic ecological framework for a sustainable future. Rewilding is a disruptive and pioneering niche of conservation, one that we spearhead in the US and one that is also gaining traction in other places around the world.

Our programs are ‘unhitched' from any notion of beekeeping and promote bio-mimicking for the preservation of wild honeybees who are endemic / naturalized in the US.

The dignity and agency of all life forms is our guiding principle to inspire new forms of managing and designing for sustainability and conservation.

In our initial landscape assessments, we focus on existing wild honey bee nests and evaluate each unique watershed for possible locations to set up self-populating nesting habitat (similar to owl boxes). For this purpose, we install log hives in the canopy of trees (between 10-20’ above ground level). We would never introduce/ import honeybees into any ecosystem.
